This privacy policy explains what information MyTVTracker collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. MyTVTracker is a service for tracking TV shows: keeping your watch history, writing reviews, building lists, and discovering what to watch next. We aim to collect only what we need to run that service.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we store your email address, your chosen username, and a hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text. You may also add optional profile details such as a display name, a short bio, and an avatar image.
Activity and usage information
As you use MyTVTracker, we store the activity you create: the shows and episodes you track, your watch history and progress, ratings and reviews you write, the lists you build, and other interactions such as follows and comments. This is the core data that makes your account useful to you.
Cookies and session data
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and to protect your account. This cookie is essential to the service — without it you could not stay logged in. We also process basic technical information sent by your browser, such as your IP address and user agent, to operate the site securely and prevent abuse.
Security log
For your account's safety we keep an internal log of security-relevant changes — for example password changes, email changes, and moderation actions — including the date and the IP address the change was made from. This log is visible only to site administrators and is deleted with your account.
Payment information
If you become a Supporter, payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's payment pages and never touch our servers. We store only a Stripe customer reference and the date your membership runs until, so we can show your Supporter badge.
Mobile app and push notifications
If you use the mobile app and enable notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can deliver them. You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time; tokens are removed when you sign out or delete your account.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: saving your tracking activity, reviews, and lists.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To display your public profile and activity to other users where you have chosen to share it.
- To send you account-related email, such as verification, password resets, and replies to messages you send us.
- To maintain, debug, and improve the service, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third-party providers to run MyTVTracker. Each processes only the data needed for its role.
TMDB
Show and episode details, artwork, and posters are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. When your browser loads images, it may connect to TMDB's image servers.
Resend
We use Resend to deliver transactional email such as verification, password resets, and replies. Your email address and the contents of those messages are processed by Resend to send them on our behalf.
Stripe
Supporter membership payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details directly on its own secure pages and handles billing, renewals, and refunds on our behalf. Stripe processes your data according to its own privacy policy. We never see or store your card number.
Google AdSense
When advertising is enabled, MyTVTracker may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and personalize ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can control ad personalization and opt out of personalized advertising in your Google Ads settings. You can also learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com.
Importing from other services
If you choose to import your history from another service, such as TV Time, we process the data you provide only to bring your shows and watch history into your MyTVTracker account. We do not use imported data for any other purpose.
Data retention and account deletion
We keep your account information and activity for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your settings (or in the mobile app). Deletion is immediate and permanent: your profile, watch history, reviews, lists, followers, and security log are removed, and any active Supporter subscription is cancelled. Comments you left on other people's content are kept but anonymized to "[deleted]" so their conversations stay intact. Messages you sent us through the contact form are kept but unlinked from the deleted account. Backups and server logs may persist for a limited period before being overwritten.
Your choices and rights
You can review and update most of your information from your profile and settings pages. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data, such as the right to access, correct, export, or delete it. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Children
MyTVTracker is not intended for children. You must be at least 13 years old to use the service, or older where a higher minimum age applies in your country (for example, 16 in parts of the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of MyTVTracker after an update means you accept the revised policy.
